Meet Laika Blue

Laika Blue is a purebred Samoyed. Her breed is characterized by the AKC as very good with children, openness to strangers, high level of playfulness, highly adaptable, vigilant and highly trainable.

Laika Blue was born in 2020. Her first loving family trained her as a comfort/ therapy dog . Three years later, Laika Blue needed to be rehomed due to circumstances that arose within her first family. Her owner reached out to Laika Blue's previous trainer and asked for his assistance with rehoming her to a person that would care for her and give her the life that she loves, allowing her to continue helping others cope with difficult situations. Her former trainer, in turn, contacted me and suggested my pack and I would be a good match.

I agreed to meet the family that had developed her foundation skills as a well trained and loving K9. Laika Blue and I immediately bonded. As soon as we introduced her to our pack of Mia (American Feist Terrier) and Aruba ( a rescued senior American Staffordshire Terrier), they instantly bonded as well. We all fell in love with her cheerful, good natured demeanor as well as her eagerness to serve others.

So, moving forward,it is my hope that Laika Blue ( my K9 partner) and I will be able to meet, greet and assist with any and all of you . Please follow our accomplishments along our journey.

Through her training, she has developed the following behaviors:

K9 Engagement Services

K9 Engagement Services client community is made up of public / private health care facilities, individuals, families and schools. We can provide visits designed to meet the needs of groups or individuals as they navigate through difficult circumstances they may encounter along the way.  Additionally, K9 Engagement Services provides immediate crisis intervention as needed to First responder Agencies.

Laika Blue is trained to handle stressful, crowded situations so that she can help people remain calm during a crisis or disaster. Not all therapy dogs have the temperament to be crisis response dogs. Providing on-scene and immediate engagement has been proven to assist first responders by lowering anxiety levels of those affected so that they may be able to give more helpful responses to investigators.

K9 Engagement Services is here to assist people struggling with personal emotional trauma, the aftermath of natural disasters, or helping communities recover from mass events through social engagement and interaction.

Why Choose A Therapy Dog

What makes therapy animals unique from service animals and emotional support animals in that their role is not to serve their handlers, but to give attention and affection to all people.

Over 30 years of longitudinal case studies determined that interaction with a friendly dog often measurably improves physical and mental health. Sessions with therapy dogs reduce blood pressure as effectively as dietary restrictions, such as elimination of sodium or alcohol. Therapy dogs provide measurable physiological health benefits.

Therapy dogs ease depression, boosting oxytocin levels by as much as 300%.

Children who work with therapy dogs have increased reading fluency by a median 21%.

50,000 therapy dogs are active nationwide, with over 3,000 new animals registered annually.

Clinical trials reveal therapy dogs may reduce patients’ perceptions of pain.

Extensive research strongly indicates working with therapy dogs offers psychological advantages.

AAI is used as a complementary therapy treatment for patients with cancer, heart disease, mental illness, and chronic pain.
